Judgement (also called Call Break or Oh Hell) is a trick-taking game for 3 to 7 players using a standard 52-card deck. The number of cards dealt drops by one each round until a single card is dealt, then climbs back up.
- Bidding. After the deal, every player calls the exact number of tricks they expect to win. The dealer bids last and is not allowed to name a number that would make every bid at the table add up to the total cards dealt, so at least one player is guaranteed to miss.
- Trump. A trump suit governs the round, typically rotating through Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs. Any trump beats every card outside that suit.
- Play. Players must follow the suit led when they can. A player with none of that suit may trump in or discard freely. The trick goes to the highest card of the suit led, unless a trump was played, in which case the highest trump takes it.
- Objective. Winning tricks is not enough on its own. Only landing the exact number called earns points; going over or under costs you.
Pick a scoring system above before the game starts. All three reward an exact bid; they differ in how a miss, and a bid of nil, are treated.
